Great News! The WtPS is still going to be here – But. No longer through Community Foundation of Utah.

BUT through these eight individual Utah Universities

U of U, Utah State, SLCC, Snow, SUU, Weber, Westminster and Dixie (and now maybe others, soon)

We did two more scholarships in both 2018 and 2019:  (and more swag).   And looking forward  t doing more in 2020, 2021, 2022.... on and on.

Still a great story on BYUtv, Turning Point did a Great, great show/documentary on us.  Please see

The Willy the Plumber

Scholarship
Is specifically for Utah children of inmates doing a lot of time or if their parents are habitually getting locked up and doing time.

We recognize that these children themselves haven't done anything wrongBasically they are also victims of their parents bad choices; the 'Forgotten Victims of Crime.’  We want to break that cycle, with a way out of prison visiting rooms, with an incentive to do better and also some financial help towards them getting a higher educating.

The purpose of this Program -

First to act as an insensitive; as a seed to succeed - for these kids to be able to do better than their parents.  To know that they can do better.  That there is a Scholarship specifically for them: by getting good grades and staying out of gangs and off drugs; there's help - with some of the financial burden of College
Second to provide not only financial help but also, hopefully some direction - too often, too little is expected of these kids (and thus the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree).  Granted the student must have good grades, good attitude and a strong desire to succeed in life and in college or a post-high school institution.  So far ALL these kids have excelled in all of that.

The number of Scholarships will be dependent on the amount of donations: The more money that comes in the more that can go out.  It's up to me, the public and the Utah State Prison inmates to make sure that this scholarship keeps working.
This is still a work in progress and most the money is coming out of my pocket.  But I hope to do more  donation drives personally in the community in the media [also in the prison]
Maybe a some kind of a yearly Charity Run [‘Jogging/riding for Justice’ or a Concert of some kind...to show these children (and inmates) that there is also community support. -And help raise more money for even more scholarships.  LET me know if you can help me or your favorite school.

The Scholarships:

Are managed and administered by the the above individual colleges and universities and still are ALL a 501 C 3 Tax-deductible nonprofit programs registered with the federal IRS

Scholarships will be awarded in the amounts of $1,000.00, (and $500 for Skilled Trades or those already in college).

Every Scholarship handed out will be published on this website specifically the name of the recipient and where they are from and where they are going. And also by the Community Foundation of Utah.
